What are the facts?
At
least 50,000 AIDS orphans and vulnerable children live in Africa’s
poorest slum – Kibera – located in Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera is home to
over 1 million people, where extended families, generally totalling 8
or more, live in small mud/stick shacks with corrugated roof and no
electricity. There are no government hospitals or clinics, no proper
sewerage systems and one latrine (hole in the ground) is shared by up
to 400 people.
Oasis Africa Australia was initiated as a not for
profit humanitarian organisation in 2005 to support a small group of
mainly orphaned children in one of Africa's largest and poorest slums,
Kibera, Nairobi Kenya. RSP has been a supporter of OAA foundation since
it was established.
Many individuals and businesses have
supported this venture and this year we were delighted to have been
part of an evenving of entertainment, art, dance and colours. Lead by
the Australian songtress Deni Hines and following acts by Christina
Anu, James Morrison and many more who have assisted in making the night
an absolute success and securing the future of many children of Kibera
slum.
A big thanks to all RSP guests and friends for joining us and help in supporting a wonderful cause.
Best wishes,
RSP Team
